In 2016, Miles & Stockbridge hired Demetria Johnson in a first-ever role, devoted full time to supporting the diversity of the firm.
The firm implemented a new policy in 2015 requiring that at least one woman, minority or LGBT lawyer is interviewed for each open position. This policy helped recruit and hire a significant number of talented lawyers, exceeding national averages in the legal industry for women and other under-represented groups.
The Miles Minority Network works throughout the firm to build a vibrant minority professional community and serve as a resource for professionals of all backgrounds in the Baltimore-Washington region.
The firm’s Women’s Network hosted its 14th annual Women’s Symposium in November 2016,
which brought together approximately 150 professionals from the region.
The firm is an active and engaged member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, composed of corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession.
