VISIT ALL THE MONUMENTS! The Pennsylvania Memorial is the largest monument on the battlefield, followed by the Eternal Light Peace Memorial. These are just two of the 1,300 monuments and markers on the battlefield. Be sure to find the marker associated with your state while visiting.
UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURES FOR PARENTS & KIDS!
Family vacations are meant to be fun, memorable
experiences. A trip to Gettysburg with your kids is sure to be one
of those getaways, especially when you have a little help finding all of the amazing experiences.
Made famous by the Civil War Battle and the site of President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, Gettysburg has taken history
to new heights. Immerse your family with living history where you will engage with soldiers and civilians, and learn to give signals with interactive displays at the National Park’s Museum & Visitor Center. Discover the sights and sounds experienced by civilians in their cellars at the Gettysburg Heritage Center. Explore the town while learning the stories of the community that survived the battle and hosted a President.
But don’t stop at the Civil War. Fast forward to the 1950s when Ike and Mamie Eisenhower called Gettysburg their home. Today, parents can help their children become Junior Secret Service Agents while exploring the home, farm and life of President Dwight Eisenhower and his family. Throughout the year, the Eisenhower National Historic Site offers special events including a World War II encampment in September.
FUN FACT:
Climb to the top of the monument! Like that guy.
