A REASON FOR EACH SEASON
Winter, spring, summer or fall, all are wonderful times to visit Gettysburg. Each season offers a different opportunity to enjoy the destination in a unique way.

for a day of skiing, snowboarding or tubing. Winters are
also wonderful for escaping to a cozy inn for a little rest and relaxation complete with a bottle of local wine and a romantic fire. Don’t forget to visit during President’s Day to
honor those who have touched Gettysburg, including Lincoln, Roosevelt and Eisenhower.
Celebrate SPRING as our orchards burst into bloom with cherry, peach, pear and
apple blossoms painting our countryside in amazing colors. The sights and sounds of spring in Gettysburg also
feature some of the best in bluegrass at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival held
each May. Of course, spring is also the kickoff of our living history programs, ranger walks and
a time for us to honor our veterans with the 150th Annual
Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies.
While our history is honored 365 days a year, SUMMER is definitely the high point of activities. Special events, tours and programs occur throughout the summer months,
the perfect time to bring your family. July 1–3 is especially important as the community commemorates the Battle of Gettysburg with special activities including the annual

destination explodes into colors — bright yellows, reds and oranges. Our apple bins
overflow with more varieties than you knew existed and flavor to write home about. Corn mazes, pumpkin patches (and pumpkin wine), wagon rides and the annual Apple Harvest Festival make fall more fun in Adams County. And don’t forget that while our ghost tours are year-round, they are more fun at Halloween time . . . consider a hands-on investigation to really get into the experience.
As fall fades, we look back to 1863 and the short visit
of President Lincoln on November 19. It is a moment to remember the need for unity and for hope and healing. These thoughts are especially important as we celebrate the holidays. Enjoy our town filled with lights and music, holiday house tours and “A Christmas Carol” at the Majestic Theater performed by Totem Pole Playhouse. The year ends with a celebration on Lincoln Square complete with fireworks.
NO MATTER THE SEASON, you don’t want to miss a day in Gettysburg.
