   A panel discussion at the recent Georgia Forestry Association Landowner Summit addressed how landowners can maximize the value of their investment. The following is an excerpt from that conversation. Participants are pictured below.

What are some common mistakes that landowners can avoid when they’re in the process of marketing their timber?
MCCULLOUGH: A lot of times, you have to realize that each tract you have is individual. They’re unique. You need to think about your tract in particular. What about access issues? Can you get to it? Did
it need to be thinned a long time ago and it was not thinned? Do you want to keep it for continued timber production? Do you want to possibly use it for an investment tract? Are you interested in hunting? So make a plan and go from there.
