    Garrett County’s economy is teeming Business-friendly policies and an array of incentives
  with entrepreneurial spirit and growth opportunities. With a full-time population that hovers around 30,000 and welcomes 1.2 million visitors per year, the county has more than 900 businesses.
Each year, vacationers add significantly to the local customer base, and tourism spending has been on an upward trend in recent years. In fiscal year 2018, county businesses saw a 7.0-percent increase in accommodations sales and a 4.8-percent increase in tourism sales-tax revenues (compared to a 2.3-percent growth in Maryland as a whole). That follows a 6.9-percent increase in county accommodations sales in fiscal 2017.

Workforce development is a key priority for employers in Garrett County. The Chamber of Commerce
is supporting employers through its Workforce Development Taskforce, which aims to help develop
