Outdoor Experiences
Biking Around
Though some visitors might prefer putting the pedal to the metal while go-karting at McHenry-based amusement centers, others will enjoy seeing Garrett County’s natural setting from the seat of a motorcycle or bike.
The Motorcycle Rides Tour (visitdeepcreek. com/pages/motorcycleridestour) takes
you through the natural surroundings
of our lakes, rivers, pastures and rolling mountainsides. There are plenty of places to stop and rest, eat or just hang out to watch the people go by.
Mountain biking here takes rugged to a new level. There are more than 150 miles of trails, ranging from easy to “don’t try this at home.” Margraff Plantation, part of Savage River State Forest, has two connected loops extending for more than seven miles, with surfaces that range from a single dirt track to gravel roads. Experienced mountain bikers enjoy the challenge of tackling a trail that leads up to the fire lookout tower in Deep Creek Lake State Park.
The annual SavageMan Triathlon (vtsmts.com) is also held at Deep Creek Lake State Park.
