The nonprofit Arts Council hosts an Artist Studio Tour in July, when visitors can get a rare look at resident and guest artists at work. The council also produces Art in the Park, a juried art festival with more than 40 artists at Deep Creek Lake State Park (
GLAF partners with HART For Animals to sponsor the Deep Creek Lake Art, Wine & Beer Festival (deepcreekwinefest. com) each September. The one- day show features beautifully handcrafted works by local and regional artists, more than 200 wines from Maryland and beyond, craft beers, live entertainment, food, a silent auction and more. Proceeds benefit the animal rescue organization and GLAF.
The Theatre on the Lake (, a professional performance company, performs three plays every summer in
the Barn at Ridgeview Valley. Productions include dramas, musicals, comedies and revues.

Spruce Forest Artisan Village ( hosts seven resident artists permanently,
and many visiting artists during the summer. Shakespeare in the Village and the annual Christmas in the Village are among the most popular events. There is
a full schedule of classes and workshops from May through November.
Glassblowing demonstrations at Simon Pearce factory outlet and workshop (, long a popular spot in Mountain Lake Park, are another year-round favorite.
Music at Penn Alps ( is a summer series of primarily classical programs, with the focus on chamber ensembles and recitals performed by local artists.
The Garrett County Celtic Festival ( celebrates the heritage, music, arts and culture of the Appalachian immigrants from Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Brittany. The celebration takes place June
1, 2019 at the town park in Friendsville.
Summertime means outdoor concerts at Oakland’s Little Yough Summer Music Festival ( html) and at the Stage Wisp Concert Series ( events).
