HUDSON VALLEY REGION NEW YORK
Staatsburgh State Historic Site
Scan to learn how HBO used the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in “The Plot Against America.”
Vassar College, Poughkeepsie
Mindy Kaling’s HBO Max show “The Sex Lives of College Girls” (2021) used the gothic architecture of Vassar College as the setting of the prestigious (and fictional) Essex College.
The waterfront landscape at Staatsburgh State Historic Site served as the background for the final battle scene in “Avengers: Endgame” (2019).
Village of Rhinebeck
Despite the title, Hallmark’s “Last Vermont Christmas” (2018) used the charming streets in the Village of Rhinebeck as the backdrop to this holiday romance. See if you can spot Pizzeria Posto and Rhinebeck Hardware.
Little Italy, Poughkeepsie
The award-winning HBO series “I Know This Much Is True” (2020), starring Mark Ruffalo, was filmed all over Dutchess, including in the Little Italy/Mount Carmel neighborhood of Poughkeepsie, which was transformed for a flashback scene with dirt roads, antique cars and horses.
Beacon & Pawling
The horror-thriller “A Quiet Place” (2018) and its 2020 sequel, both starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, filmed at multiple locations in Dutchess, including the interior of Beacon Natural Market on Main Street, Beacon. While the farmhouse where the Abbott family lived is not open to the public, you can drive along the rural and not-at-all-scary country roads in the Lakeside Park area of Pawling that provided the film’s setting.
Yankee Clipper Diner, Beacon “Nobody’s Fool” (1994), starring Paul Newman, Jessica Tandy, Bruce Willis and Melanie Griffith, featured Beacon’s Main Street, including the Yankee Clipper Diner.
