Westchester and the Hudson Valley’s vibrant dining scene has always been one of the area’s biggest draws. While the COVID-19 pandemic brought challenges, the industry has rallied to remain in business, and residents can still enjoy everything from tacos to pizza to farm-to-table cuisine from restaurants all across the region.
One of the strongest warnings throughout the pandemic has been: Keep your hands away from your face! And since that is nearly impossible to do while diving face first into a juicy cheeseburger or a bucket of Buffalo wings, many area restaurants were forced to come up with clever ways to not only safeguard the health of their patrons and staff but also to paint a portrait of a sterile, yet inviting, environment.
Aside from adhering to government mandates on socially distanced tables, face coverings for workers and diners (when not seated), and stepped-up cleaning efforts, the new normal at some of the region’s favorite spots includes prominently placed hand sanitizers, disposable menus, and a reduction in tables, both inside and out.
Throughout Hudson Valley towns, outdoor dining thrives like never before, thanks to newly created or expanded outdoor spaces from smart restauratuers looking to capitalize on the Valley’s scenic beauty in a way that makes patrons feel safe. Stylish Heritage Food + Drink in Wappingers Falls boasts a see-and-be-seen patio where you can enjoy the restaurant’s upscale, farm-to- table fare and unique specialty cocktails. 14 & Hudson in Piermont boasts a sweet patio space where customers appreciate the menu of dishes leaning toward gourmet twists on approachable favorites. The 76 House in Tappan offers Americana meals that echo back to the history of the space on its patio, while at Clemson Bros. Brewery, diners get plenty of fresh air with their cold beer and brewpub food: there’s a shaded

beer garden at the Middletown location and a charming umbrella-ed patio at the New Paltz outpost. With a prime location on the Newburgh waterfront, Pamela’s On The Hudson draws crowds for its locally-sourced-from-farmers’- markets ingredients. And the stunning waterside patio at The Roundhouse in Beacon boasts one of the best mealtime views in the Hudson Valley, while
newcomer Zeuss Brewing Company in Poughkeepsie offers a rooftop scene with craft brews and fresh pastas, hand- tossed pizzas, and gourmet salads..
The other huge factor that saved restaurants during the pandemic? Curbside pickup. While delivery or pick- up has long been a mainstay for casual dining establishments like pizzerias and Chinese food dives, widespread
