Fueling Biotech Growth
Westchester boasts key industry leaders, a new 99-year lease for a 60-acre hub of biotech and medical technology and the region’s leading Biotech incubator.
A New Vision
Recently expanded, collaborative worksspace at BioInc@NYMC
        BioInc@NYMC
As the Hudson Valley’s only biotech- nology incubator, BioInc@NYMC of- fers shared resources, turnkey wet lab space, and sponsored professional services to promising, high-potential entrepreneurs and start-ups.
Here, Salomon Amar, D.D.S., Ph.D., vice president of research at New York Medical College and provost for biomedical research discusses recent expansion, a milestone anniversary and upcoming plans for the space.
On the space’s fifth anniversary
We opened in 2014 at the end of October, and in October 2019—ex- actly five years after BioInc@NYMC first opened its doors, we completed a physical expansion. Adding 10,000 feet in brand new office space, co-working desks, an outdoor patio and kitchen, the newly expanded BioInc@NYMC affords its clients space to host events,
participate in educational seminars and work collaboratively.
On new opportunities for collaboration
Having this additional space helps create a more collaborative community. It adds a place to gather, and offers an environ- ment where you can learn from the peo- ple around you. The new space helps clients grow and expand in partnership.
On noteworthy member companies
MediSprout is a video medical platform. Sapience Therapeutics, a biotechnol- ogy startup that focuses on devel- oping novel oncology therapeutics has been with BioInc@NYMC from the start and is now preparing for FDA approval. Retia Medical has FDA ap- proval to monitor operating rooms and intensive care units.
On future plans
We have a beautiful new space and
will look to continue to fill it with exciting start-ups developing new biotechnologies.
North 60
North 60 is sixty acres of land in Valhalla that will be developed by Fareri Associates to create an innovative hub with a focus on biotech and medical technology research and development, together with retail and hotel space.
Signed in late 2019, the 99-year lease provides for the development
of the property in accordance with a Master Development Plan in phases. The first phase requires the developer to create 220,000 square feet devot- ed to biotech and medical technology use, 100,000 square feet in medical office space, 80,000 square feet in retail space and a hotel with 120 rooms and conference facilities.
