World Renowned Dining
Beyond easy access to the Hudson Valley’s high-quality dairy and produce, Westchester’s 600 full-service restau- rants offer skilled chefs, dynamic cui- sines and dining experiences that rival the best Manhattan has to offer.
In 2020, the revered Michelin Guide’s NYC edition recognizes – for the first time – eateries from Westchester County. Now in its 15th year, the Guide’s move to include New York’s “sixth borough” as part of the city guide was natural, according to Michelin Guide International Director Gwendal Poullennec.
“Inspectors were particularly im- pressed by the technique and highest quality of ingredients that they dis- covered during multiple visits to the Westchester area,” says Poullennec.
Shining Stars:
Blue Hill at Stone Barns Destination restaurant Blue Hill at Stone Barns is the County’s first Michelin
starred restaurant, having achieved an impressive 2-star designation.
Opened in 2004, the farm-to-table pioneer is located in a former dairy barn on 80 acres of land donated by the Rockefeller family. The restaurant works in tandem with an adjacent farm and education center, Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture.
Affordable, Remarkable: Bib Gourmands
Beyond the fine-dining recognition of its star system, Michelin also conferred its Bib Gourmand distinction, to eight Westchester-based eateries for its 2020 guide.
Bib Gourmands are awarded to restaurants that earn the attention of Michelin inspectors for an affordable and remarkable dining experience.
Reflecting the diversity of the County’s culinary offerings, Westchester’s 2020 roster of Bib Gourmands includes:
• New Rochelle
Dubrovnik – Croatian Maria Restaurant – Italian
• Elmsford
RaaSa – Fine Indian Cuisine Shiraz Kitchen – Meditteranean – Persian
• Scarsdale
Café Alaia – New Italian
• Dobbs Ferry
The Cookery – Italian
• Port Chester

High Spirits: Local Breweries and Distilleries
Westchester’s exceptional breweries and distilleries offer residents the oppor- tunity to enjoy locally produced artisan beers and spirits of the highest quaity. Breweries include Elmsford’s Captain Lawrence, Yonkers Brewery and Wolf & Warrior Brewing Company in White Plains. Based in Port Chester, Still the One distillery produces honey-based vodka, gins and bourbon.
Specialty Groceries Across the County
Westchester is also home to nu- merous specialty grocery stores and supermarkets, including Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s locations throughout the County. Highly regarded grocery chain Wegmans is scheduled to open a Harrison location in June.
“At Wegmans, we’re extraordinarily flattered by
the welcoming response from the Business Council of Westchester and the Westchester community
at large.”—Matthew Dailor, Manager, Wegmans Harrison
