Tarrytown Mayor Drew Fixell shares the benefits of living and having a business in the historic village.
Strength in diversity. Tarrytown is ec- onomically and ethnically diverse, with a strong Latino population. The people who move here from, for example, Brooklyn, value this diversity as well as our strong public schools, and are drawn to it.
Transit oriented development. Like most of the County, much of the new construction in Tarrytown centers on transit-oriented development near the train station. We’re about a 35-min- ute express train ride from Manhattan. Residential developments, such as Hudson Harbor and the upcoming Edge-on-Hudson, on our border with Sleepy Hollow, continue this trend.
A superb location. Tarrytown of- fers natural beauty, a vibrant down- town, a peaceful river walk, and of course, proximity to the Mario Cuomo Bridge. Tarrytown commuters appreci-
ate the accessibility to New York City, Rockland County and New Jersey. Some staff who work for the village actually reverse commute from New York. We offer the best of urban, sub- urban and country living. Tourism has also become an increasing focal point, as more visitors are attracted to our many historic and cultural sites.
A comprehensive plan. Our compre- hensive plan for the village – Tarrytown Connected – looks to create an afford- able and connected community that attracts and supports residents and businesses by encouraging a ro- bust and diverse economic base. Repurposing is a big part it. We’re always looking to promote novel uses for existing space and structures. The repurposing of old spaces and the leveraging of adaptable office stock will help more diverse small businesses to get a foothold and enjoy the ben- efits of being part of this community.

       “The same things
that make Tarrytown
a great place to live
also make it a great
place to do business.”
—Tarrytown Mayor Drew Fixell
“I chose Westchester because it felt like it was a community that was warm...
which has this real creative, bohemian energy that feels really welcoming to me. I was drawn to the opportunity to work more closely with some of the incredibly talented people who are in the Tarrytown community...and join an already established and respected dining scene.”
