Winterthur’s Enchanted Woods > Winterthur.org
Nestled in a three-acre plot of Winterthur’s stunning formal
gardens is a cove of fairytale magic ... where fairies, pixies,
elves and trolls have created an enchanted escape into a world
of whimsy. Children of all ages are invited to explore these Enchanted Woods by climbing into the music fairy’s giant bird’s nest, tip-toeing under the troll bridge (to avoid having Soot the troll grab your ankles!), ducking inside the Tulip Tree House and playing inside the adorable — and just how you would imagine it — Faerie Cottage. The poet William Butler Yeats once asked fairies to come and take him out of this dull world . . . this is where he would’ve wanted to go.

ven though Longwood is already the most visited public garden in America, there’s one attraction that’s sure to make a splash this May: the unveiling of the massively renovated and technologically-updated Main Fountain
Garden. After three years of work, the fountains will now feature “a knockout performance that has never been seen before,” according to Executive Director Paul B. Redman. Now equipped with underground propane lines, the fountains will now be a water AND fire experience. If that’s not enough, powerful jets will shoot water 175 feet up in the air — 45 feet higher than before. Talk about aiming high.
