 Brandywine
Chadds Ford Historical Society > chaddsfordhistory.org
If you’re looking for the quintessential Brandywine experience, then CHFS is just the place! They have a year-round calendar of great events, but fall is our favorite time to go. September kicks off with Chadds Ford Days — a two-day festival with reenactors, food, music, children’s activities and all kinds of fun to commemorate the Battle of the Brandywine. October brings the Great Pumpkin Carve, a tradition started when iconic American artists Andrew and Jamie Wyeth planted the seeds by carving pumpkins for the then-Chadds Ford Inn. Now the Great Pumpkin Carve is three nights of
live music, hayrides, a haunted trail and 60 unbelievable pumpkins — ranging from 150 to 400 pounds each — carved by local artists and community members and sure to put a little “holla” into your Halloween.

St. Thomas of Villanova Church
> villanovauniversity.edu
Ask any good Delco sports fan what comes to mind when they hear “Villanova” and before you finish the word, they’ll say “basketball.” But long before con- gregations of fans assembled along the hardwoods at the Pavilion, Catholic worshipers gathered in this landmark Gothic Revival Church. Modeled after a 13th-century French cathedral, this church — and its twin spirals — has been the iconic landmark of Villanova University since its completion in 1887. Over the years, it’s been the home of hundreds of alumni weddings (alums are the only ones who can get married here), funerals for members of the university community and lots and lots of prayer — especially during basketball season.
