ALUMNI ASSOCIATION Update
The Alumni Association and Office of Alumni Affairs continue to offer a wide variety of events that engage and connect generations of Salesians. As an alumnus of Salesianum, you can be confident that there is always something interesting and new on the calendar! Not sure what’s going on or how to connect? Visit salesianum.org/alumni, download the new Salesianum alumni app or email alumni@salesianum.org. Below are just a few highlights from the Alumni Association’s fall and winter activities:
REUNION 2019 PLANNING IS ALREADY UNDERWAY! Graduates from classes ending in 4s and 9s, this is your year, so be sure to save the date October 25–26, 2019 for an unforgettable weekend of reunion festivities!
WELCOME ANDREW SCHIEFFER ’09, SALESIANUM’S NEW DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI GIVING
After graduating from Salesianum, I studied
hospitality at the University of Alabama. I have spent the last two years working in the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. My goal is to educate alumni on ways to get involved in Salesianum, with the hopes of building a bigger and better alumni and friends community. It’s great to be back at 18th & Broom!
BOSTON & NEW YORK AREA RECEPTIONS: In what’s fast becoming a new tradition, Salesianum takes
its legendary hospitality on the road to connect our ever-growing base of alumni in the metropolitan Boston and New York areas while providing updates on the many happenings at 18th & Broom.
ALUMNI RETREAT: In January, the historic and beautiful Antrim House 1844 provided the backdrop for the newly designed alumni retreat. The weekend of spiritual renewal and support of the fellowship of Salesian brotherhood was led by Fr. Michael Murray, OSFS.
RECOVERY MASS: The second annual Recovery Mass for alumni, families and friends navigating their journeys to recovery has grown to a near- capacity crowd. The beautiful service provides an evening of mutual support, prayer and hope for those who have battled and continue to struggle with the powerful forces of addiction.
PHILLIES SPRING TRAINING TRIP:
A special gathering of alumni, family and friends for the Phillies pre-season opener in Clearwater, Florida. This year, Salesians gathered in late February in a suite hosted
by Salesianum President Brendan Kennealey ’94 at Spectrum Field to watch the Phillies take on the Pirates. The perfect late winter getaway!
MEMORIAL MASS: A cherished tradition in November, this evening of reflection and prayer honors loved ones who have died and reminds us to stay spiritually connected to those who have passed before us.
DECEMBER HAPPY HOUR: More than 100 alumni gathered at Ulysses Gastro Pub in Wilmington to celebrate the holidays and reconnect. A special thanks to Steve Lucy ’87, owner and host.
