Happy New Year Greetings!
A special thanks to 96
year old Hank Cisco, who honored me, by anointing me, a regular guest host of The Hank Cisco TV Show on the air for over 30 years when he entered hospice
in March of 2019. Filmed at Norristown High School under the direction of John Doyle, the department head, the show shares
community and
multi-cultural news
& spotlights Italian
culture. Big shoes
to fill. Cisco, The
Country’s first
Town Ambassador,
is an Army Vet,
Professional Boxer
& Referee meeting
greats like Muhammad Ali & Joe Frazier. Frank Ciaccio was his birth name, changed along the way during his boxing career, easier to pronounce.
His 30 year law enforcement career began as a Norristown police officer
to Montgomery County detective. His close friendship with Mayor
Frank Rizzo earned him a pallbearer position
& protector of Rizzo’s statue. Among Hank’s accomplishments, to numerous to list, The
Christopher Columbus monument at the Elmwood Park Zoo, equipment for Montgomery Hospital
& years of persistence
to ‘delete the word “daygo” from the 1964 Pennsylvania Criminal Law & Criminal Procedure Hand Book for Police. Cisco’s words on a long
life, besides the love of his wife Delores & 3 daughters, “eat good” & “never lose a fight in the dressing room”.
Watch current & past shows on local NASD Comcast & Verizon Cable & YouTube.
Norristown High School
Students, Superintendent Christopher Dormer, Staff & Teacher John Doyle welcomed Lisa Thomas- Laury as my recent guest.
A trailblazer, Lisa was one
of the first African American women to anchor TV news in a large city.
With WPVI-TV 6 for almost 40 years, she credits viewers favorite Weatherman
& Anchor Jim O’Brien
with helping guide her in knowing and understanding PHILADELPHIA viewers. In your home almost every day, Lisa’s career included an over night stay with Oprah, covering the wedding of Princess Diana & years of hosting the Thanksgiving Parade with Dave Roberts, recently reunited for the 100th Anniversary.
Retiring in 2016 due to
health issues, after a
long journey of being misdiagnosed along with an
opioid addiction sidebar, she found answers at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
In 2017, she wrote a
memoir: “On Camera and Off, When the News is Good and When it’s Not”. With 2 loving sons, Leland
& Langston, Lisa & her husband, Dr Bill Laury, share her story to help others understand how to be your own health advocate & that even with caution, opioid addiction can happen to anyone. Listen to her story & find her book on Amazon.
Peg DeGrassa, Editor & Columnist with Delco News Network of Newspapers & daughter blogger “Weekend Jawns by Marguerite”, and a Re/Max Main Line Realtor “making deals in heels”, stopped by The Hank Cisco Show. Watch their episode
to find out what’s new on the entertainment scene & celebrity sightings in the
Philly region.
Peg De Grassa’s recent
column titled, “Delaware County Farms Transform into Winter Wonderlands”, included the premiere season for Echo Hill Farm’s North Pole Experience
with an Old World Santa. Another honor, being listed with 2 established holidays venues, Linvilla Orchards & Arasapha Farms. With Echo Hill Farm’s back acreage
in Delaware County, & the front of the farm in Chester County, it’s a newcomer to holiday agritainment.
The BARN Shop at Historic Echo Hill Farm, with sections dating back
to 1750 & 1882, now
open year round, features handcrafted one-of-a-kind treasures, artwork by Italian artists Brigida Di Genova &
Antonio Palumbo, wreaths and DIY crafts by Keep it Greenery, over a hundred miniature classic collector cars & memorabilia plus estate pieces that will surely entertain & intrigue visitors of all ages.
Featured artist Brigida DiGenova, trained by old masters of Italy, makes all her own paints from plants, herbs, natural resources & her 10 fingers. Also a guest on The Hank Cisco Show, Brigida’s work is meticulous & whimsical, transporting us to another world, from reality to dream any season of the year. 2020 will be her first year with an entry in The Philadelphia Flower Show. Visit her work at The Barn Shop.
