HOW WE MAKE AN IMPACT
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to create and support mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
Year established: 1964 Number of full-time employees: 5 Number of part-time employees: 3 Annual revenue: $1,341,228 Geographic service area: Delaware
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware offer
mentors (Bigs) for at-risk youth ages 6-17
statewide, significantly impacting kids
(Littles) at critical developmental ages. Youth
participating in our mentoring programs are
likelier to avoid risky behaviors and achieve
personal and academic success. Today’s
young people face various challenges, and
being matched with a Big Brother or Big
Sister helps them navigate those challenges
and reach their full potential. “Littles” matched with “Bigs” receive better grades in school, are more confident overall, and are more likely to graduate high school.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
We depend on local donations to help us meet the growing need for services every year. Your gift will go directly towards helping us match a young person (Little) with a mentor (Big). All donations help us provide high-quality, evidenced-based mentoring services for Delaware youth. Donations are accepted directly through our website, bbbsde.org.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Become a Mentor! You can help shape a child’s future by empowering them to achieve their potential. Visit our website, www.bbbsde.org,
for mentoring options that suit your availability. We strongly need male mentors, with over 150 boys and young men waiting statewide. It takes just a LITTLE time to make a BIG difference in a child’s life.
