BEVERLY HILLS
Mayor O’Malley lived here until he moved to the Governor’s Mansion
Why the smile? Yes, Baltimore has its own Beverly Hills, with fewer celebrities maybe, but lots of assets. Mayor Martin O’Malley lived here until he moved to the Governor’s Mansion. So there’s that. It’s racially diverse, and there are CHAP tax credits for historic renovations. Despite its north- ern orientation near Herring Run Park, you can be in Canton in 15 min- utes on I-95 south. Nearby Garrett Heights Elementary/Middle School has just begun a cool 10-year plan to become a public, non-charter Montessori School.
Home styles: Craftsman and bungalow styles of the Arts & Crafts move- ment are popular in Beverly Hills, which was established in 1926, accord- ing to its entrance sign. Yards are medium sized and well kept.
Home Prices: They’ve doubled in the past five years to a median $183,000.
Walk To: Harford Road standbys like Zeke’s Coffee, Maggie’s Farm, lots of shops, and Koko’s Pub (“best crab cakes in Baltimore”). Bus service on Harford Road.
